Welcome to BIRC

The Biomedical Informatics Research Center (BIRC) was created by the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation in 2005. BIRC is located on the second floor of the Laird Center for Medical Research (beyond the Froehlke Auditorium) and currently has 39 staff and scientists.


Deliver the future of medicine to physicians and patients by research and innovation to integrate medical, dental, genomic, and occupational information and make them easy to use.

Peissig named BIRC director Peggy Peissig, Ph.D., MBA, has been named Director of the Biomedical Informatics Research Center (BIRC) at Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF).


Drug Safety Surveillance Agreement Peggy Peissig, PhD, Principal Investigator, has received notification of funding for a U01 award submitted through Auburn University and in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
